Take Your Time

We often notice minutes and hours passing but rarely notice seconds, days, years as they mount up, this series of diptychs explores the impressions of time and the relationship between the inevitability of ageing and human spaces.

Whilst wandering the streets of Gujarat and Rajasthan through 2009 – 2011, hidden amongst the chaotic daily life, I observed the literal fabric of time worn still life. I wanted to photograph these motionless but richly time worn objects to show evidence of the passage of time. Rust and wear suggest age and constant use. It takes time for steel to get rusty and for a wall to deteriorate into an organic life of its own. Doors have been touched and entered for the passage of time to become evident.

Out of the Ordinary comes a sense of order and beauty revealed, if one takes the time to observe and record.
